Another cohort of the center is focused on the Management of disasters, or emergencies which is one of the biggest challenges mankind faces today. The creation of this program is to train participants to be practically prepared for a wide range of contingencies.

What really is a disaster? Disasters can be either natural or manmade occurrences which can include pandemics, environmental cataclysms, and technological. These have made many people vulnerable, often without enough support from their governments. Examples of disasters are volcano eruptions, pandemics, earthquakes, wildfires, droughts, floods, hurricanes, nuclear explosions, landslides, acts of terrorism, and tornadoes. 

What then is Disaster Management?

This is a situation where resources will be organized and directed to deal with, coordinating the roles and responsibilities of those responding like public sector agencies, private sector organizations, volunteers, faith-based organizations, non-profit organizations, and donations from donors. The main objective of disaster management is to minimize the occurrence impact, this involves preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation.

 In this center, since disaster management has a broad scope, participants will acquire knowledge or develop skills for Prevention, Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery on how to apprehend disaster.

Impact of Disaster: Disasters, be it human-made disasters that originate from human errors or Natural disasters originating from physical phenomena, cause displacement of people, spread of diseases, disrupt the functioning of communities, create desperation, famine, hunger, economic downturn, poverty levels, gender inequalities, deepens climate change and lives and infrastructure damage.

The Professional Training Center for Africa Peace and Security has been created as a professional program strongly oriented towards practical applications to meet current challenges in the discipline of peace and security. It is a consecutive professional program, designed in respect of recognized professional training criteria. The program will earn the participants a recognized certificate from the Cameroon Ministry of Employment and Professional.
